Project Details:

The aim of this project was to enhance the look of the entrance and improve the access and egress visibility of the main road.

The works included the construction of a new entrance to Worden Parks main Car Park. This entrance included: new stone pillars and access gates. The stone pillars at the entrance were constructed using local sandstone to match existing historic entrances and in the middle of this are two vehicle gates and two pedestrian gates. Worden Parks entrance was being improved as the existing entrance was no longer suitable for the number of pedestrians and visitors accessing the site.

Other entrance works included: creating new block paved footway areas edged with silver-grey conservation kerbs.

Inside the entrance there are macadam surfaced footways and carriageways along with two areas of reinforced grass surfaced areas.

The access road from the new entrance to the existing overflow car park has been constructed using a 6m wide Truckpave roadway link with a 2m wide Bodpave used at either side for the footways. Secondly, an area at the end of the car park had its existing stone surface replaced with a Truckpave surface. Following the completion of the resurfacing works, the car parking spaces and sections of carriageways were marked out with thermoplastic screed lining.

Now completed, the entrance is now an attractive part of the park for the park users and is now more easily accessible for pedestrians and vehicles throughout the day.
