Building or construction project management is usually overseen by a qualified project manager or a team of project managers who will ensure the smooth running of the project with architectural planning, organisation, scheduling and decision making.

The project manager will work primarily towards the main goals of the project which may be centred around remaining below budget or ensuring the maximum quality of finish, regardless of the price. The project manager ensures the contractors being used are aware of and work toward these goals.
