The project involved the construction of a Larinier type fish pass also incorporating an Eel Pass. Although the ultimate client of ours was Don Valley Rivers Trust there was also involvement from the Environment Agency, local authority Rotherham City Council together with the Canal and River Trust.

The fish pass was constructed in reinforced concrete with the Larinier sections being designed and supplied by Fishtek.

The scheme was particularly complex from a temporary works point of view in that the work was constructed within a very large water course and access proved to be very problematic.

The work was carried out in January 2020 and was completed at the end of May 2020. The work was completed on time and within budget even though we encountered two of the worst ever recorded storms in which we lost five weeks time on site. Our operatives also managed to continue working throughout the Covid-19 pandemic implementing all new guidelines and regulations as the work progressed.
