Project Details:
This project entailed a variety of landscaping works, in the heart of Lancaster University’s main campus, just south of the city. The campus features a multitude of outdoor spaces and this scheme created a new tiered area for the students.
The existing site was to be cleared prior to commencement, all existing footpaths and kerbs removed and the existing mounds landscaped to meet the proposed contours.
Once the earthworks had been completed the new landscaping could be carried out. The steps are made from bespoke pre-cast concrete units, installed at various levels, with all new drainage behind the steps to ensure adequate drainage for surface water. The rest of the area was finished with a high-quality, durable turf; to make it a true green space along with new resin bound footpaths. Other areas of planting and new fencing also helped to enhance the area and give it a total transformation into the useable feature it now is.
